About us
The first snowflakes fell in the winter of 2024/2025, when Christiania got its own ice skating rink - in the middle of Denmark's most infamous street, Pusher Street.
The rink was created to fill a void. In a place where there was once unrest and uncertainty, a new gathering place filled with light, life and laughter - and perhaps a few sore tailbones - now emerged. The rink became a symbol of change - a place that brings together people across ages and backgrounds.
From the beginning we worked to give the course its own Christiania-like character - with space to stand out from the square and ordinary. For us it was important that the course not become just another winter offer, but a place with soul, colors and edge that can only be found here.
In its first season, the rink was called Pusherstreet On Ice - a play on words, meaning that the street as we knew it was put on ice in more ways than one. Since then, we have chosen to give the place a new name: Christiania Skøjtebane . A name that reflects our desire to create an open, safe and shared winter space for everyone, right in the heart of Christiania.
For us, it's not just about skating. It's about movement, community, and the joy of creating something beautiful in a cold and dark time. A reminder that even where the frost bites, warm communities can grow.
